Bavarian Pumpkins
(Brunsdumm G'müs)
"B avarian Pumpkins" is a vignette of two grumpy old men (who just happen to be squash on a vegetable stand) inspired by Saxton Freymann & Joost Elffers' really groovy book Play with your Food
As a kid I had once taken a pickle with a longs stem, stuck some rice for teeth and pepper corns for eyes into it, and put it back into the Claussen jar in the fridge as a "fetal rat", so I was really happy to find this book. And those pumpkins were just begging to be animated
I decided to give the pumpkins the personalities of two crotchety old men, who have been friends so long they are practically married, and who gripe and ridicule anyone who is out of earshot (including each other).
Bavarians are kind of the "good 'ol boys" of Germany, so being neither German nor Southern, the exact translations were a bit difficult. But nevertheless, for all you non-Bavarians out there, here's a rundown of Günter & Horst's conversation (in case you couldn't tell, Günter's the one on the left):

Günter & Horst
(pause)

"Eam schaug o!"
"Brunsdumm G'müs"
"Sakrament!"

"Saupreiß..."
